this last weekend, there was a fundraiser at our local grange hall... the couple who own the local music store, and have helped so many local musicians, got a few extra medical bills, if ya know what i mean. so i thought id bring down some 828's for the 3 bands to rock through. i stuffed the cabs with some 421-8lfs, topped them with 805 horns and tied them together with 1209 crossovers. we ran them full range, plus added some mas 18f subs on another channel. the room size was about 40x90. the a-5's were reflecting off the back wall and on to the stage so the bands couldnt hear the monitors and thusly loosing time. the implimented subs were inneffectual..sooo much mote output thru the altecs than everything else there combined. needless to say..everyone loved the altecs, especially the musicians.

Well done Jon, benefits can be a blast. forums

I do get a little weepy sometimes when I remember the '58 Gretsch I once traded for enough gear to do a benefit. It was worth it though. Kinda one of those bittersweet, "my ex took the dog and I sure miss him" things.

I don't doubt it. The best PA's with live music I heard at high school dances and then clubs growing up were altec. It was great that you could expose them all to this dirty little secret...that altec really knew what they were doing...oh why is this a secret?
